SembraMedia’s second conference on Entrepreneurial Journalism and Innovation was held on July 31 and August 1 in Lima, Peru. SembraMedia, the FNPI (Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for New Ibero-American Journalism) and CAF, co-organized the event, with the support of the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), the JSK Journalism Fellowships at Stanford University, and the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (CPU).
During two days, dozens of journalists, media entrepreneurs, and other experts shared their experience in building digital media projects with special emphasis on the sustainability of independent digital media.
SembraMedia’s first annual conference took place in June 2017. The event included a 2-day public conference and a 3-day, invitation only workshop for 30 Latin American journalists who won scholarships to work on their own entrepreneurship projects.
Guest speakers included Jeff Jarvis (United States), Jean-François Fogel (France), Nienke Huitenga (Holland) and Maria Catalina Colmenares (Colombia). SembraMedia, the FNPI (Gabriel García Márquez Foundation for New Ibero-American Journalism) and CAF, co-organized the event which attracted more than 170 attendees. The conference included panels on journalistic business models, building audiences, managing teams, diversifying revenue and more.
